Government High School No. 1 Skardu

Government High School #1 is one of the oldest institutions of Skardu city, that is why it is know as High School #1. Although according to some sources the history of the school goes back to pre-partition of Pakistan and India, when it was the only school in Baltistan division under the control of Muharajas of Kashmir, (Kashmir was comprised of four divisions, Ladakh, Kargil, Baltistan and Gilgit). 

But after the affiliation of Gilgit-Baltistan with Pakistan the school became a registered school of Federal Govt of Pakistan in 1974. Since then it has been spreading the knowledge in Baltistan region. Being a pioneer institution of Baltistan most of the officers and heads of the Institutions of different sectors in Baltistan belongs to this school, although now a days the enrollment rate has receded because of the increasing number of the private institutions. 

The school is affiliated with Karakorum International Board.
