Waterfalls and Plains in Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit-Baltistan has a number of beautiful, spectacular, breathtaking and picturesque plains and waterfalls, such mesmerizing kind of landscapes you would observe in the G-B only. The plains having flora and fauna, beautiful natural springs, snow-capped mountains and blooming flowers welcome you with fragrance.  

Deosai Plains (Deosai National Park)
The Deosai National Park is located in the Skardu District of Gilgit-Baltistan province, in northern areas of Pakistan. Deosai means the "Land of Giants". 
Deosai National Park is at an average elevation of 4,114 meters (13,497 ft) above the sea level, making the Deosai Plains one of the highest plateaus in the world. The park protects an area of 3,000 square kilometers (1,200 sq mi). It is well known for its rich flora and fauna of the Karakoram-West Tibetan Plateau alpine steppe ecoregion. In the Spring season, it is covered by sweeps wildflowers and a wide variety of butterflies.

There are a number of waterfalls in Gilgit-Baltistan, but most of the waterfalls are hidden from the tourist due to lack of road network. The Mantokha waterfall is famous and easily accessible too. In summer the Mantokha Waterfall becomes home to the thousands of visitors.

Manthokha Waterfall Kharmang, Skardu:
Located in the village of Manthokha Kharmang in District Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, this waterfall is famous for its picturesque and spectacular landscape. This is one of the main tourist destinations of the district Skardu, welcoming the native as well as international tourists. 
The waterfall is in the village Manthokha which can be accessed from Skardu city. Heading towards Manthokha Waterfall one has to follow the Kargil-Skardu road from Skardu city. While moving to Manthokha the following villages come on the way on Kargil-Skardu road: Hussainabad, Thorgo, Parkuta, Ghasing and Manthokha. 
A stream running downstream falls into the Indus River at Manthokha village. On the east side of this stream is Madhupur and a road Manthoka-Madhapur road shall lead you to your final destination, Manthokha Waterfall.
