Central Karakoram National Park largest national park of Pakistan

With greater than 10,000 sq. km of area the Central Karakorum National Park is the largest national park of Pakistan. The park is home to the greatest concentrations of highest peaks of the world including the K-2, Gashebrum II, Gashebrum I and Broad Peak which are more than 8,000 meter high. There are 70 peaks in the park which are more than 7,000 meters high. It has the worlds greatest glacier out of polar region known as Baltaro Glacier which is also visible from the space too. Other glaciers includes; Biafo, Panama, and Hispar glaciers.


The Central Karakoram park is the one of most important parks of Pakistan in term of water source as it has the greatest concentration of glaciers which feeds the Indus river, the largest river of Pakistan. Also it becomes the home of thousands of international and national mountaineers, trekkers and nature lovers.
It was declared as national park in 1993. Most of the area of park lies in the Skardu District of Gilgit-Baltistan but also includes area within the Gilgit District too.
